Mastermind of the Bonsai Garden Orchestra is the multimedia artist Wolfgang Temmel, who enjoys crossing new frontiers. It was initially his love of the ukulele that inspired him to contact the lively music scene in Hawaii – and the Bonsai Garden Orchestra began taking shape. The music of its nine members says more than all words – and those still needing proof that music is a universal language get best value here. Hawaiian voice acrobatics and Alpine yodeling harmonize in the vocal tracks wonderfully. Steel guitar and the strains of the violin merge in one world – just like they should. Whether traditional music or original BGO compositions, it all swings and grooves so greatly that one listener familiar with Hawaiian culture for over 30 years spontaneously remarked: “You have to be dead not to move to this [...] music!”The CD was recorded quasi live in a mobile studio at the Pavelhaus in Laafeld near Bad Radkersburg. And you can hear it immediately: that laid-back musicality so characteristic of the Bonsai Garden Orchestra’s performances. World Music in best orchestra tradition, presented by an international collective, crafted with honesty, note by note, and sung straight out.Kirby Keough and Grammy-winner Ken Emerson are the Hawaiian members of the Bonsai Garden Orchestra. And from Austria, Wolfgang Temmel has gathered the following members around him: Peter Rosmanith, Klaus Trabitsch, Franz Schmuck, Klemens Bittmann, Gerold Walt and Fred Gallagher. All in all a guarantee for the very finest of music. A beginning has been made – and now BGO is going strong.
